An Age of Eagles - Tactical Commander Tournament

Time Period: Napoleonic

Scale: 15mm

GM:  Ken Boone

Club Affiliation: Basement Generals

Game Rules: Age of Eagles and Napoleonic Fire and Fury Modification

Number of Players:  8 continuation from Session 3

Sponsor: Scale Creep Miniatures and the Basement Generals

Prizes: Trophies, Napoleonic Miniatures and Gift Certificates.

Description:

Have (4) one on one games at the same time. Each one has a different scenario for attacker and defender.  Have objectives and use the victory points.  First game is 1:30 long to get everybody started playing and its slower. 10 min break between games then each game is 1:00 long after that. At the end of the hour, tally the scores, even in mid-turn.  I think it will be a pretty aggressive set of games.  Use 1 or two divisions max and have tactical set ups.

1. Crossing a bridge at a river while defended on other side.

2. Storming an artillery position

3. Meeting engagement

4. Ponies, ponies, ponies

At the end of each game, set them up again and switch. Allied stays Allied, French stays French. Start again and play until each person has played all 4 scenarios.

At the end, tally the points. Have 2 winners. One on French side and another on the Allied.  They will almost function as training sessions. And I have always enjoyed the smaller AoE/FnF actions.

Resistance groups of nomadic Terrans are beginning to hold strong resentments toward the occupying colonial Marines, particularly due to the fact that the Marines had been given control over all water distribution. With a drought in effect for many of the regions, skirmishes begin breaking out at every source of water on the oceanless desert planet. As the Nomads try to secure ample supplies of water for themselves, the Zerg swarms make their arrival and begin to invade the planet. As a small company of Nomads attempts to secure a Marine held oasis near their encampment, a Zerg detachment arrives to scout out and secure the area's water supply. With a common enemy at hand, will the Terrans band together and stave off this threat to their way of life, or will they continue to fight amongst themselves?

Session 4: Table 18

An Empire Divided

Time Period: Mechs and Micro Machines

Scale: Sci-Fi

GM:  Tom and Donald Lewis

Club Affiliation: Wetpowder Wargamers

Game Rules: “Home Grown”

Number of Players:  6

Description:

Title based on a line from the poem “A Dream of Fair Women” by Alfred Lord Tennyson

It is the year 2189. In the far future, turmoil grips the face of the planet once known as Earth. Pollution and the wasting of resources has left the entire planet a desolate wasteland, with scorched skies and arid land. On these God forsaken lands organized nations still thrive, harboring whatever resources they can and scraping out an existence on the war torn surface of alliances and federations. Of the many developments that have kept humanity alive, none has been more effective or destructive as the mechanized gigantic mobile suits known as Mechs. These Mechs, originally used for hard work in the most inhospitable climates, have gradually become effective killing machines. Among the warring nations of the Earth, none is more powerful than the coal rich Erosian Empire. The oppressive dictatorial line of Imperial succession has recently fallen on Empress Hestia. The Empress’ cruel rule of unceasing labor and unlivable wages posed on the large working class has fueled a resentment unequalled in world history. Supported in a grand Coup-De-Ta by the neighboring communist nation of Discordia, a Rebel Alliance of peasants and workers have risen up in what has become known as the People’s Republic. The peasants, with support from Discordian elites, seized the Imperial capital of Ceres and executed the Empress, who’s last words were “You filth may kill me now, but you are all beneath me! They will say of me ‘I died a queen!’” What followed would be a bloody war of distrust and betrayal. With Imperial soldiers still controlling the majority of the Empire in a militaristic state, peasants rising in small bands everywhere, and communist insurgents appearing in the midst of seemingly every engagement, the tides of war are far from clear. With an open throne and a vast empire at stake, to what lengths will any faction go for complete control of not only the Empire, but ultimately the future of humanity, and the world?

Game Rules: Frag: If it Moves, Shoot and Munchkin

Club Affiliation: The Men In Black; Steve Jackson Games volunteer

Number of Players:  8

Sponsor: Steve Jackson Games

Description:

Frag is a computer game without a computer. It's a "first-person shooter" on a tabletop. Move your fighter and frag your foes; draw cards for weapons, armor, and gadgets; move through the blood spatters to restore your own health! If you die, you respawn and come back shooting!

Munchkin

Go down in the dungeon. Kill everything you meet. Backstab your friends and steal their stuff. Grab the treasure and run.

Admit it. You love it.

This award-winning card game, designed by Steve Jackson, captures the essence of the dungeon experience . . . with none of that stupid roleplaying stuff. You and your friends compete to kill monsters and grab magic items. And what magic items! Don the Horny Helmet and the Boots of Butt-Kicking. Wield the Staff of Napalm . . . or maybe the Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment. Start by slaughtering the Potted Plant and the Drooling Slime, and work your way up to the Plutonium Dragon . . .
